Texas Tech University Health Science Center Education, Research, and Technology Building and West Expansion

Facility Programming and Consulting was engaged (with another firm) to prepare an architectural space program of requirements for the Education, Research, and Technology Building and the West Expansion. Texas Tech University Health Science Center is comprised of the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Health Professions, and Biomedical Sciences. The construction of a new building and an expansion to the existing facility are needed to accommodate additional administrative, research, gross anatomy, SIM center, instructional and conference center spaces. TTU HSC proposed the design and construction of two components to this project: the construction of a new facility just north of the current facility and the west expansion to the existing Health Sciences Center. During the programming of the building, it was also determined the Conference Center, originally planned for location in the Education, Research, and Technology Building, would become a separate building to be completed at a later time. A modular Hazardous Materials Storage Facility will also be included within the overall project scope. The project includes research, educational, administrative, conference, and support spaces for the five main schools housed within. Additional spaces will accommodate administrative and support spaces for departments such as Diversity and Inclusion, Global Health, President’s Office, Academic Services, and Finance and Accounting, among others.
